Uttarakhand's Pencak Silat Women Athletes Make History with Silver Medal Win, In a remarkable achievement, Uttarakhand's Pencak Silat women athletes have clinched a silver medal at the Khelo India Senior National Pencak Silat Women's League 2025. The event, organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, and the Sports Authority of India, took place from April 6-8, 2025, at the Sher-i-Kashmir Indoor Sports Stadium in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir.
Outstanding Performance by Uttarakhand Team
The five-member Uttarakhand team, comprising Pooja Meher, Tanuja Bungal, and Sunita Bhat, showcased exceptional skill and dedication, securing a silver medal in the team Regu event. This impressive feat has brought pride to the state of Uttarakhand and serves as an inspiration to aspiring athletes.
Dedication and Hard Work Pay Off
According to Gayatri Negi, team captain, the athletes trained rigorously for six hours daily at the Diwakar Sports and Fitness Academy in Rudrapur, demonstrating their commitment to the sport. Their perseverance and passion have earned them a spot on the podium and a cash prize of ₹8,000 from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and the Sports Authority of India.

The Pencak Silat Association of Uttarakhand is gearing up to host a grand welcome for the medalists upon their return to the state. This achievement is expected to motivate and inspire other athletes in the region to strive for excellence in sports.
